John Catchings is an award-winning producer and
broadcast executive with more than thirty years of
experience. He launched
Catchings & Associates, a television production and
consulting company, in January 2001.

While continuing as founder and CEO of Catchings &
Associates, in 2003 Catchings also served as Director of
Operations for ITN MediaOne Services. ITN MediaOne is an
independent broadcast facility in San Francisco,
providing production, master control, and transmission
services to local stations, television networks, and
corporate clients.
As Director of Operations, Catchings supervised
Studio Productions, Master Control Operations,
Scheduling, and television Venue Management at SBC Park
for the San Francisco Giants. His responsibilities also
included business development, budgeting, contract
negotiation and management, and development of an
Automated Operational Database System to accelerate
receivables through the workflow integration of Sales,
Scheduling, Production and Finance.
Prior to 2001, Catchings was Director of Station
Operations, Director of Local Programming and
Production, and Executive Producer of Sports Programming
at KPIX-TV, San Francisco. He supervised all aspects of
program development and production at the CBS owned and
operated station for ten years. Catchings was
responsible for the station’s most popular local shows
plus numerous documentaries and specials. He recruited
and managed programming talent, producers, directors,
studio crew, and video editors.
Catchings also managed broadcast rights
agreements and as a member of the CBS labor relations
team negotiated agreements with AFTRA, IBEW, and IATSE.
Catchings was Executive Producer of News
and Sports at KGO-TV in San Francisco from 1984 to 1990
where he was responsible for daily news and sports
coverage and production. He launched the station’s first
morning news program, created its first sports magazine
show, "Sports Extra," and developed five of the
station's highest rated specials. Catchings joined
KGO-TV in 1977 as News Assignment Editor for "Channel 7
News Scene" with Van Amburg, where he supervised story
coverage for the top rated news show in Northern
California.
Catchings
began his broadcast career in San Francisco at KMPX
Radio. He spent seven years at RKO Radio’s KFRC AM/FM
before joining ABC O&O KSFX Radio as Program Director in
1972.
John Catchings is the recipient of
numerous broadcast awards including three Emmys. In 2002
he was inducted into the National Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences Silver Circle for "…significant
contributions to Northern California television and the
local community" and in 2004 he received the NATAS
Governor’s Citation for career achievement.
Catchings serves on the Board of
Directors of the Northern California Radio-Television
News Directors Association, the Board of Governors of
the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences/San
Francisco, and the California Advisory Board of the
Trust for Public Land.
A native of San Francisco, Catchings is
married to KGO Radio Business Reporter Lynn Jimenez.
