Legends Laud Local
Women In Broadcasting
The men stepped aside and kept their seats as the Broadcast
Legends celebrated great women in broadcasting on June 19 at the Doubletree
Berkeley Marina. The rollicking two-hour program included several current stars
of radio and TV, and paid tribute to the great women who helped pave the way for
them.

Hosted by Terry Lowry, the
lunchtime event celebrated the accomplishments of Bay Area women in radio and
television. Trish Bell presented a retrospective
that spotlighted pioneering female disc jockey Sybil Herrold True, early
KGO drama director Wilda Wilson Church and one of the Bay Area's true
broadcast legends, Wanda Ramey, whose many
accomplishments were reviewed in great detail to the delight of the enthusiastic
audience.

Leading off the afternoon's festivities was the ubiquitous
Legends newscast, which was presented in hilarious fashion by Melanie Morgan
and Cammy Blackstone. The Legends' fundraising auction was capably
conducted by the very fit and very funny Joanie Greggains.
